Sentinel Peak

Sentinel Peak is an awesome one day mission in Wanaka - roughly 11 hours couch to couch!

We took our mates Freddie and Natti up for their first mountaineering experience and it was a perfect intro peak.

We left Wanaka at around 5.30am so that we could get to the top of the tree line by sunrise and start the ridgeline scramble with crampons and axes to the top. We reached the summit at around 12pm for lunch, and then slid down the easier gully and reached the base by sunset.

We can’t believe how many accessible and beautiful peaks there are around Wanaka!
